Six Years of MACMOM Organizing: Celebrating the Spaces, Stories & People Behind It All
Six years.
Somehow, I’m celebrating six years of MACMOM Organizing!
When I started this business in 2020, I had no idea where it would lead. I knew I loved organizing, creating functional spaces, and helping people feel better in their homes. But I never could have imagined that what began as a one-woman business would grow into the company MACMOM Organizing is today.
Six years later, we are a team of six talented organizers, working together to transform homes and make everyday life a little easier for the people who live in them.
There have been so many pinch-me moments along the way. But more than anything, this anniversary has given me a chance to reflect on what we've built, the people we've met, and why I still love doing this work six years later.
From One Organizer to a Team of Six
Like so many small businesses, MACMOM Organizing started with an idea, a lot of hard work, and a willingness to figure things out as I went.
In the beginning, it was just me.
Today, I have the privilege of working alongside a team of six organizers who bring their own talents, perspectives, and energy to every project.
Growing a team has allowed MACMOM Organizing to help more families and take on bigger projects, but it has also reminded me that this business was never meant to be about one person.
Our team works hard. Organizing can mean long days, heavy lifting, endless decisions, and plenty of behind-the-scenes problem solving. But we also get the incredible satisfaction of standing back at the end of a project and seeing how dramatically a space—and sometimes a client's day-to-day life—has changed.
I couldn't have built MACMOM Organizing without them, and they are one of the things I'm most proud of as we celebrate six years.
Six Years of Incredible Milestones
Over the years, MACMOM Organizing has also had opportunities I never would have dreamed about when I first started.
We've been fortunate to be featured in The Washington Post, Forbes, The Spruce, Redfin, and Realtor.com, sharing our organizing expertise with audiences far beyond the homes we work in every day.
In 2025, we had the incredible opportunity to participate as a designer in the Mansion in May Designer Showhouse, benefiting Morristown Medical Center. Being part of such a special event alongside so many talented designers was an experience I'll always remember.
We've also built a wonderful partnership with The Container Store, allowing us to help clients combine smart organization with beautiful, functional products and systems.
Each milestone has been exciting. Each one has pushed us to grow. And I'm incredibly proud of all of them.
But they're not the reason this anniversary means so much to me.
The Best Part Has Always Been the People
When I think about the past six years, I don't think first about press mentions, partnerships, or beautiful before-and-after photos.
I think about people.
Professional organizing gives us a unique opportunity to enter people's homes during many different seasons of their lives.
Sometimes we're there because a family has simply had enough of the overflowing pantry or closet they can never seem to keep under control.
Other times, we're there during a major life transition.
We've helped clients prepare to move into new homes and unpack once they arrive. We've helped families organize after renovations, prepare for new babies, manage the changing needs of growing children, downsize, prepare homes for sale, and transition into the empty-nest years.
And sometimes, clients call us simply because the way their home is functioning no longer matches the way they're living.
That's something I think people don't always realize about professional organizing.
We're not just organizing things. We're helping people through change.
Every Home Tells a Story
No two organizing projects are exactly alike because no two families are exactly alike.
The goal isn't to walk into someone's home and make it look like a magazine spread. It's to understand how that person actually lives.
What frustrates them?
Where does clutter consistently collect?
Which routines aren't working?
What would make mornings easier?
What would help them feel calmer when they walk through the door?
What do they need from their home right now?
A beautiful organizing system isn't very useful if a family can't maintain it. That's why we focus on creating spaces that are not only visually appealing, but also practical and personalized.
The best systems are the ones that quietly make everyday life easier.
And there's something incredibly special about watching that happen for a client.
More Than a Before & After
Of course, we love a dramatic before-and-after.
There's nothing quite like seeing an overflowing closet become a streamlined wardrobe, a chaotic playroom become a space children can actually enjoy, or a packed pantry become a functional system where everything has a home.
But the real transformation often isn't captured in the photograph.
It's hearing a client say that mornings aren't as stressful anymore.
It's creating a kitchen where someone enjoys cooking again.
It's helping a family unpack after a move so their new house begins to feel like home.
It's watching someone walk into a previously overwhelming space and realize, I can manage this now.
That's the part of organizing that continues to mean the most to me.
Thank You for Six Incredible Years
Starting MACMOM Organizing in 2020 was a leap.
I couldn't have known then where it would take me—or how many wonderful people I would meet along the way.
So as we celebrate our sixth anniversary, I want to say thank you.
Thank you to every client who has welcomed us into their home and trusted us with their space.
Thank you to our business partners who have supported and collaborated with us.
Thank you to everyone who has recommended MACMOM Organizing to a friend, shared our work, followed along on social media, or cheered us on from the beginning.
And a huge thank you to my incredible team. MACMOM Organizing would not be what it is today without you.
Six years ago, I took a chance on an idea.
Today, I get to look around at a business, team, and community that I'm incredibly proud of.
Here's to six years of creating calmer homes, simpler systems, and spaces that work better for the people who live in them.
And I can't wait to see what Year 7 brings.
With gratitude,
Marisa
